The property is situated 5mins drive from Cordes-sur-Ciel, a fortified medieval hilltop 'bastide' and now a lively provincial town. Cordes has several bakers, butchers, a small supermarket, petrol stations, banks, post-office, tennis courts, very good primary and secondary schools, doctors, dentists and a thriving bustling market on Saturday mornings.

Cordes offers a wide range of restaurants including the internationally renowned four-star restaurant and hotel 'Le Grand Ecuyer' - owned by Yves Thuries. Among its many guests are the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and President Francois Mitterrand.

Albi is 20mins drive from the property and is the nearest large town. All amenities are to be found including large supermarkets, schools, university, golf course and regional administration offices. Albi was the birthplace of the artist Toulouse-Lautrec and houses the world's largest collection of his work in the old bishop's palace.

The area is also well known for the wide range of outside and adventure sports on offer: from canoeing and kayaking in the Aveyron gorges to horse riding and hiking in the Gresigne national park. The Pyrenees mountains are only a couple of hours drive away and boast many top quality ski resorts. The Mediterranean coast, Spain and Barcelona are all within easy reach.
